Gasoline in Liberia

Filling up with gasoline in Liberia is quite different. Prices range somewhere between US and European rates. It is expensive. But the amounts you can buy are small. Above is a common site. A man is selling gas by the mayonnaise jar full. He will siphon it into your gas tank for you.
Here is a gas station that doesn't seem to have a pump. When they do they are hand cranked. You will see one person behind the gas pump turning a crank as fast as he can.
I have also noticed that no one turns their car engines off to fill up with gas. In one case the driver continually checked the gas gauge to make sure the right amount of gas was going in as it was being pumped.
