I Took the Stairs to the Loft This Morning
For the first time I took the stairs to the loft this morning and not
the ladder. Nigel, who would only take the ladder once was happy to see
the loft again.
Our
great, extremely fast, and friendly Australian building team: Craig (on
the right who heads the team) and Johnny (on the left whom I didn't
realise was also Australian until a few weeks into the job). Alas, they
will only be with us until the end of today and then different trades
come in.
The green tarp across the roof gives an eerie glow to the hall.
The wall is now built to the small room again.
The staircase is done and awaits the railings, spindles and newels.
A
good shot of the new bedroom wall. You can see the gouge in the wall
where it used to sit (on the left). From this angle you can't even tell
it has shifted 5 inches.
The large skylight has been cut out now. Did I already post a picture of that?
Next week the back windows will go in. They are a different company that we hired independently to match all our back windows and doors.
The cubby which is still missing its window.
The
plastered bathroom, minus the wall on the left. The bricks are the
party wall which is still waiting for a brick layer to build up. We
learn Andy, the brickie who built the walls for our kitchen extension
has broken his wrist, hence the delay. Too bad, we were looking forward
to seeing him again!
The pary wall leading down the stairs which will be plastered.
Yes, ALL our stair ends will look like this one day soon!
