The Loft is Now Framed
Okay, back up the ladder. I saw Craig our building shimmy up the ladder
with two cups of coffee in one hand holding the ladder with his other.
The
bathroom is framed in although it is hard to get an idea of the space
from the photos. There is one big window in the bathroom and two in the
main room, all the same size and width apart.
This
was a little extra space we have seen in other lofts. A great place for
children to sit and read on a cushion and an emergency fire exit.
The back room is now mostly enclosed. The insulation is thick solid foam covered on both sides by metallic
foil. It is cut to groove in between every post. Then the whole thing
is covered again in a thin layer which is then covered in plasterboard (gyproc)
and finally plastered over. You get an idea from this picture of the
bathroom (on the left) which will be accessible from the hall. We opted
against an on suite
so that the bathrooms in the house are accessible to anyone at any
time. But guests in the loft essentially have their own bathroom.
The little cubby again.
The
front end of the loft is still dark as the main square skylight has not
been cut yet. We are waiting for the roofer who will put the lead
flashing up before the hole is cut.
The
back windows are emerging. You get an idea of the slanted walls now and
the windows having a little alcove to walk into. I love it.
You
can also see the brick layer has still not come, but is due to arrive
any day. At this point he will be working from the outside.
A view from the still unclosed walls from the bathroom.
This is our little door to the eaves which will be our storage! Yippee!
Here you can see the chimneys from both sides of the house (4 in all) joining to meet the chimney on the roof.
The front rooves. Our water tank sits inside our apex that you see jutting out of every house.
I have never seen the street from this vantage point before.
Wow! That's some fast work being done!
ReplyDeleteThat last picture you took.....you must have a very long arm, or you are standing on the scaffold. I'd guess the latter. Geo
