Dorset, UK: Bournemouth

Our second day in Dorset is spent in Bournemouth walking the town and beach. Although this looks like a ship above, it is actually the pier. The sand is really white. It does remind me a little bit of Long Beach in British Columbia, Canada. The groynes (wood partitions running down to the water) are places every so often all the beach to slow sand erosion. My new rubber boots are the best thing ever! Nigel prefers walking on the cement path (despite his new rubber boots). A closer look at the pier. We took a quick little shopping trip in the town of Bournemouth, the best part being the older English gentleman with the microphone and bible preaching out loud very dramatically in the main high street. He wasn't your typical preacher either. There was something very individual and interesting about him despite his angry rants and long silent pauses, coupled with individual slants that caught people off guard and were definitely odd and interesting. I have never seen this before, but many people of all ages were loitering pretending to be doing something else and actually listening to him. Our B&B host was surprised we walked all the way back from town along the beach again.
